Advisory Services Panels
ULI’s Advisory Services program has a long history of providing member-led interdisciplinary panels to help communities address land use and real estate development issues. Thanks to the Annual Fund, that service is available on a pro-bono basis for aid in natural disaster recovery.  Recent panel activities include:
Galveston, TX – Disaster Response, Sustainable Development. The panel’s recommendations to create “one Galveston” envision an ecologically sound island community that combines resort living with a revitalized urban core.

Cedar Rapids, IA – Disaster Response, Downtown Redevelopment. The panel suggested building flood-recovery momentum in downtown by upgrading the U.S. Cellular Center, building a convention center next to it and turning a nearby street into a pedestrian-friendly entertainment district.

Chicago, IL – Revere School Community. The panel believes that with education as the anchor for development and a strong support team of residents, this struggling neighborhood has the potential to become a safe and thriving community to the benefit of its residents, the Chicago South Side, and the city as a whole.

Minneapolis, MN – Minneapolis, MN – Implementing a vision for TOD. The panel found that the city has made remarkable strides.  Prior to the recession, Minneapolis had embarked on good initial development, which can be built upon through future partnerships. The city should enhance their development tool kit, better align capacities among public players to achieve goals, and be more proactive concerning infrastructure needs.
