Our Cities, Our Future

Accelerate Net Zero / Decarbonization

Real estate is responsible for 40 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, and over 70 percent of emissions in cities. As a result, the real estate industry has a huge role to play in solving this problem, and ULI has a unique opportunity to lead with solutions.

The ULI Greenprint Center for Building Performance, part of the Randall Lewis Center for Sustainability in Real Estate, is leading the Institute’s work on the net zero mission priority. ULI Greenprint is a research center focused on climate mitigation and makes the business case for green buildings by tying carbon reductions to increased asset value. ULI Greenprint also includes a worldwide alliance of leading real estate owners and developers committed to improving the environmental performance of the global real estate industry, striving to reduce greenhouse gas emission by 50 percent by 2030, and achieving net zero carbon operations by 2050.
