What is the ULI Foundation

“The ULI Foundation generates funding for research, education, and public service programs that enhance communities in meaningful and visible ways through intelligent land use and development.

The ULI Foundation is where ULI members and other interested parties come to fund the many areas of study and burgeoning outreach programs that make up this ‘university without walls.' The knowledge generated by ULI guides the decisions of land planners and developers the world over.

The ULI Foundation contributions fall into four main categories:

  • Endowments
  • The Annual Fund (link to the Annual Fund Section under Ways of Giving)
  • Grants for Special Incentives
  • Planned Giving

Mission Statement

“The ULI Foundation supports the mission of the Urban Land Institute by providing an assured source of funding for ULI’s core research, education, and public service activities and for a variety of special incentives. Through its various giving programs, the Foundation helps to strengthen ULI’s ability to provide responsible leadership in the use of land to enhance the total environment.”

“I envision the Foundation’s role as a creative participant in the future of ULI, supporting activities that get ahead of issues affecting the land use industry.”—Charles H. Shaw
