Remembering Jim Bieri, Founding Member of ULI Michigan and ULI Foundation Governor
August 22, 2025
Jim Bieri, 77, leaves behind a remarkable legacy at ULI, defined by his unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and philanthropic spirit.
A ULI member since 1988 and a founding member of ULI Michigan, Jim played a pivotal role in shaping both the organization and his local district council during its formative years. His tenure as Chair of ULI Michigan (2007–2011) marked a period of significant growth and innovation, including the launch of the Larson Center for Leadership and the Local Product Council—initiatives that continue to develop leaders and strengthen communities.
Jim’s leadership also extended to ULI’s global network, where he served as a Global Governing Trustee and a longtime Product Council member. A dedicated supporter of the ULI Foundation, he was a member of the Governors Society and believed deeply in ULI’s mission to shape the future of the built environment for transformative community impact.
His legacy is seen not only in the programs, councils, and initiatives he helped create and lead, but also in the countless leaders he mentored, inspired, and encouraged. Jim embodied the very best of ULI’s values—showing up consistently, reliably, and with a positive spirit that uplifted all who worked with him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jim’s beloved wife, Jeanne, as well as his son, Alex, and his grandchildren, Benjamin and Grace.
